About Scotland

Please note Torosay Castle is for sale and I understand that we cannot visit the gardens. 2012.

Islands of Mull, Iona and Skye - Scotlands Gardens and Landscapes.

A four day expedition to visit beautiful gardens and landscapes on Scotland's wonderful west coast and islands. Join me on this island adventure.

Island of Mull.

Visit the beautiful Torosay Castle gardens. Opportunity to travel to the garden on the Mull Railway (narrow gauge) in season. Live in Tobermory (Ballamory) Youth Hostel SYHA overnight.

Visit the Island of Iona, as foot passengers, for a short time.

The most westerly point on the British mainland is Ardnamurchan lighthouse which is almost as far west as Belfast. It has a nice wee tea room for a refreshing break. The scenery on Ardnamurchan is outstandingly beautiful.

Visit the famous fishing port of Mallaig on the way to Skye.

Island of Skye.

Visit Armadale Castle Gardens. Accommodation in a SYHA Youth hostel overnight. Visit Dunvegan Castle to see the spectacular gardens. Opportunity to go out to islands on Loch Dunvegan by boat to see seals close up – not to be missed.

Visit Portree and Trotternish to see some of the most spectacular scenery on Skye.

Stay in the Youth Hostel at Uig (SYHA) which must be one of the best locations in Scotland.

Travel will be by car for three people. Six people will be by people carrier. 7 to 15 people will be by Minibus. Travelling between islands will be on Calmac Ferries.

Accommodation will be in Scottish Youth Hostel Association Youth Hostels or in Independent Hostels. The precise ones will be subject to availability and location.

Cost per person £215. This includes the Guide/Driver, travelling, ferries and accommodation in SYHA Hostels or similar.

Not included. Catering and entry to Gardens. Scottish Youth Hostels are self catering establishments – provide your own food or eat out in a local pub or restaurant if preferred. There will be opportunities daily to buy fresh food for self catering. There is no need to carry a lot of food with you. Activities such as the Seal Boat at Dunvegan Castle and the Mull Railway are not included in the fee.

Cancellations must be made in writing 21 days before the date of departure otherwise the deposit will not be refunded. Any non refundable payments to suppliers e.g. The Scottish Youth Hostel Association, will not be refunded. The itinerary may be changed at any time to suite conditions.

The expedition will only go ahead if sufficient numbers book. In the event of there being insufficient numbers refunds will be made.

To date this has been the most popular Garden and Landscape Expedition and demand has been such that its has been delivered three times.

I will do my best to ensure that everyone has a happy holiday in beautiful Scotland.
